Privacy Policy

Overview
ScreenDumb ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your family's privacy. This Privacy Policy covers two things: the ScreenDumb iOS app, and this website at screendumb.com. The short version: the app keeps your family's data on your family's device and collects exactly one thing — a parent's email address — and the website collects only what you give us on the waitlist.
The ScreenDumb App
ScreenDumb is designed so that your family's data stays with your family:
- The plan lives on the device. Your Game Plan, screen-time settings, session history, and progress exist only on the phone they were created on. We run no accounts, no profiles, and no database of families.
- One parent email, one purpose. During setup, a parent provides an email address. We use it for exactly two things: sending PIN recovery codes when a parent requests one, and sending a heads-up when a reward is getting close. The address is stored securely on the device itself. When an email needs to be sent, it is processed transiently by our infrastructure providers (Cloudflare and Resend) and is not kept in any account or marketing database. A parent can change the recovery email at any time in the app's settings.
- No personal information from children. The app never asks a child for an email, phone number, or any account credential. Names entered during setup (used to personalize the plan) stay on the device.
- No analytics, no ads, no third-party tracking SDKs. The app contains no advertising or behavioral tracking code of any kind.
- Apple's Family Controls. Screen-time enforcement uses Apple's own Family Controls framework. Apple's privacy design means ScreenDumb cannot read which specific apps are used or build a browsing history — it can only enforce the limits your family sets.
- Deleting the app deletes your plan. Because your family's information exists on-device, removing ScreenDumb removes the plan, its history, and every name and number you entered. The recovery email and the PINs (stored only as salted hashes) live in the device's secure Keychain, which Apple preserves across app deletion — that is what lets a reinstall recover your plan's locks. They stay on your device only; nothing is kept on our side.
Website: Information We Collect
Email Addresses (Waitlist)
When you sign up for our waitlist, we collect:
- Your email address
- The date and time you signed up
- Your confirmation that you are a parent or guardian (18+)
We use this information solely to:
- Notify you when ScreenDumb launches
- Send occasional updates about the app's development
- Invite you to participate in early testing
Automatically Collected Information
This website runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider (Netlify) keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations. We do not use this information to identify or profile visitors.
How We Use Your Information
We use your email address to:
- Send you updates about ScreenDumb's development and launch
- Invite you to beta testing programs
- Respond to your inquiries
We will never:
- Sell your email address to third parties
- Share your information with advertisers
- Send you spam or unrelated marketing
Data Security
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted connection)
- In-app recovery emails and PINs are stored in the device's secure Keychain
- Recovery codes are short-lived, single-use, and never stored in plain text on our infrastructure
- Access to waitlist information is limited to essential personnel only
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Unsubscribe from our emails at any time (link provided in every email)
- Change the in-app recovery email yourself, at any time, in the app's parent settings
- Request deletion of your waitlist data by emailing privacy@screendumb.com
- Request a copy of the information we have about you
We will respond to data deletion requests within 30 days.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of infrastructure providers, each processing data on our behalf under its own privacy policy:
- Netlify — website hosting and secure storage of waitlist form submissions (privacy policy).
- Cloudflare — runs the small service that sends the app's recovery-code and reward emails. Recovery codes are stored briefly (hashed, expiring within minutes to hours) and are never linked to any account (privacy policy).
- Resend — email delivery for those messages (privacy policy).
Form spam protection uses a simple hidden-field technique that involves no third-party scripts and collects nothing from you.
Cookies
Our website uses minimal cookies to function properly. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect website functionality.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify waitlist subscribers of any material changes via email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will reflect the most recent changes.
COPPA (Children's Privacy)
ScreenDumb complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and our approach is simple:
- In the app: we collect no personal information from children. The one piece of contact information the app handles — the recovery email — belongs to the parent and is provided by the parent during a parent-led setup. Children use ScreenDumb on devices set up with their parents, with screen-time access granted through Apple's own consent flow, and the family's plan data stays on the device.
- On this website: the waitlist is directed to parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we learn we have, we will delete it immediately.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at privacy@screendumb.com.
Parent/Guardian Rights
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, you have the right to:
- Review the information
- Request deletion of the information
- Refuse to allow further collection or use of the information
Contact us at privacy@screendumb.com to exercise these rights.
